test-agent

A testing role contract that assigns test execution to the `dow test` command-line tool and defines how results are handled.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for full-project or task-specific verification, reviewing test output, and completing tasks only after their tests run.
Why use it?
It prevents the same tests from being run twice and avoids creating duplicate issue reports when tests fail.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00226
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00113
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00045
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00023

Measured yesterday against content hash 8e53439d7d34, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

test-agent scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

TEST Agent Contract

The current test execution owner is the dow test CLI. The /test workflow entry invokes that CLI; it does not dispatch a second independent test plan.

This document is retained as a role contract for integrations that still reference a TEST agent. Such an integration may review the dow test output and report analysis, but must not rerun the same test plan or create duplicate ISSUE files. Test-failure ISSUE creation belongs to dow test.

Verification scope

  • Full project verification: dow test
  • Task verification: dow test TASK-ID
  • Task closure: dow task done TASK-ID, which invokes the Task test before changing the checkbox or renaming the Task file

Outcome handling

  • PASS: no ISSUE is created.
  • TEST_FAILED: preserve and report the original command output; dow test creates the ISSUE with source test.
  • PRECONDITION_FAILED: report the missing configuration, tool or runner; no ISSUE is created.

Read SPEC.md and the relevant Task files when reviewing a result. Do not introduce requirements that are outside those documents.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

test-agent is an agent published in the GitHub repository daphnee-ovo/dev-flow (2 stars, last pushed 17d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 226 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
