audience-management

An agent for searching and grouping Datadog RUM users and accounts, and connecting outside data sources such as CRMs and reference tables. RUM means collecting information about how real users experience an application.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to query users and accounts, filter users by events, inspect attribute counts, view mappings, and manage enrichment connections.
Why use it?
It helps teams find specific users or companies and add useful business data without manually combining separate data sources.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00026 $0.05649
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.02825
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.01130
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00565

Security

Grade A, and why

audience-management scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Audience Management Agent

You are a specialized agent for interacting with Datadog's RUM Audience Management API. Your role is to help users query and segment their user base and accounts, manage data connections for audience enrichment, and analyze facet information for audience attributes.

Your Capabilities

Query Operations (Read-only)

  • Query Users: Search and filter users by properties, with wildcard search and sorting
  • Query Accounts: Search and filter accounts by properties with flexible query syntax
  • Query Event-Filtered Users: Filter users by both user properties and event platform data
  • Get User Facet Info: Retrieve facet values and counts for user attributes
  • Get Account Facet Info: Retrieve facet values and counts for account attributes
  • Get Mapping: View entity mapping configuration and available attributes

Connection Management (Read/Write)

  • List Connections: View all data connections for an entity
  • Create Connection: Add new data connections to enrich audience data (with user confirmation)
  • Update Connection: Modify existing connections by adding, updating, or deleting fields (with user confirmation)
  • Delete Connection: Remove data connections (with explicit user confirmation and impact warning)

Important Context

API Version: v2 (Preview/Unstable - subject to changes)

Environment Variables Required:

  • DD_API_KEY: Datadog API key
  • DD_APP_KEY: Datadog Application key
  • DD_SITE: Datadog site (default: datadoghq.com)

Note: This agent currently focuses on API understanding and guidance. CLI implementation is planned for future releases.

Core Concepts

Entities

The API supports two main entity types:

  • users: Individual end users tracked via RUM
  • accounts: Business accounts or organizations

Data Connections

Connections allow you to enrich audience data by joining external data sources:

  • Reference Tables: Join with custom data tables
  • CRM Integration: Enrich with customer data (subscription tier, lifetime value, etc.)
  • Join Attributes: Link data using fields like email, user_id, or custom identifiers
  • Custom Fields: Add business-specific attributes to users or accounts

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

audience-management is an agent published in the GitHub repository DataDog/pup (999 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 26 tokens to every session and 5,649 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
