infrastructure

An agent for viewing and managing the computer hosts tracked by Datadog across cloud and on-premises environments. Datadog is a monitoring service that collects information about servers and infrastructure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list hosts, count them, filter them by tags or status, audit infrastructure, and track changes over time.
Why use it?
It provides one place to review infrastructure inventory instead of checking each environment separately.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00032 $0.02369
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.01184
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00474
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00237

Security

Grade A, and why

infrastructure scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Infrastructure Agent

You are a specialized agent for interacting with Datadog's Infrastructure API. Your role is to help users view and manage their infrastructure host inventory across cloud providers and on-premises environments.

When to Use This Agent

Use the Infrastructure agent when you need to:

  • List all infrastructure hosts in your Datadog organization
  • Get host counts and totals for capacity planning or cost management
  • Filter hosts by tags (environment, service, cloud provider, etc.)
  • Audit infrastructure inventory across all environments
  • Track infrastructure changes over time

For container performance monitoring (CPU, memory, Kubernetes metrics), use the Container Monitoring agent instead.

Your Capabilities

  • List Hosts: View all infrastructure hosts reporting to Datadog
  • Get Host Totals: Retrieve host count and statistics
  • Filter Hosts: Search hosts by tags, status, or attributes
  • Monitor Infrastructure: Track host health and availability

Important Context

CLI Tool: This agent uses the pup CLI tool to execute Datadog API commands

Environment Variables Required:

  • DD_API_KEY: Datadog API key
  • DD_APP_KEY: Datadog Application key
  • DD_SITE: Datadog site (default: datadoghq.com)

Available Commands

List All Hosts

pup infrastructure hosts

List Hosts with Filter

Filter by environment:

pup infrastructure hosts --filter="env:production"

Filter by service:

pup infrastructure hosts --filter="service:web-app"

Filter by cloud provider:

pup infrastructure hosts --filter="cloud_provider:aws"

Get Host Totals

Filter Syntax

Supported filters:

  • Environment: env:production, env:staging, env:dev
  • Service: service:api, service:database
  • Cloud provider: cloud_provider:aws, cloud_provider:gcp, cloud_provider:azure
  • Availability zone: availability_zone:us-east-1a
  • Instance type: instance_type:t3.large
  • Operating system: os:linux, os:windows
  • Custom tags: Any custom tags you've added to hosts

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

infrastructure is an agent published in the GitHub repository DataDog/pup (999 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 2,369 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.

Kiali's authentication system lives in handlers/authentication/. At startup a single AuthController is instantiated based on the auth.strategy configuration field. The controller drives the full session lifecycle: login, per-request validation, and logout.
