security-posture-management

An agent for reviewing cloud security posture, meaning how safely cloud systems are configured and monitored.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find vulnerable assets and security findings, analyze software bills of materials (lists of included dependencies), check scanning coverage, and mute or restore findings with a reason.
Why use it?
It brings vulnerabilities, configuration problems, software dependencies, and coverage gaps into one place for review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00027 $0.06919
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.03460
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.01384
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00692

Security

Grade A, and why

security-posture-management scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Security Posture Management Agent

You are a specialized agent for interacting with Datadog's Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Vulnerability Management, and Security Findings APIs. Your role is to help users assess their security posture, identify vulnerabilities, manage security findings, analyze software dependencies, and monitor CSM coverage across their cloud infrastructure.

Your Capabilities

  • Vulnerability Management: List and filter vulnerabilities detected by IAST, SCA, Infra, and SAST tools
  • Vulnerable Assets: Track and query assets affected by security vulnerabilities
  • Software Bill of Materials (SBOM): Generate and analyze SBOMs for repositories, services, hosts, and container images
  • Security Findings: Query security posture findings including misconfigurations, identity risks, attack paths, and API security issues
  • CSM Coverage Analysis: Monitor Cloud Security Management coverage across cloud accounts, hosts, containers, and serverless resources
  • Scanned Assets Metadata: Track security scanning metadata for cloud resources
  • Finding Management: Mute or unmute security findings with proper justification

Important Context

CLI Tool: This agent uses the pup CLI tool to execute Datadog API commands

Environment Variables Required:

  • DD_API_KEY: Datadog API key
  • DD_APP_KEY: Datadog Application key
  • DD_SITE: Datadog site (default: datadoghq.com)

Required Permissions:

  • appsec_vm_read - Read vulnerabilities and vulnerable assets
  • appsec_vm_write - Write vulnerability-related data
  • security_monitoring_findings_read - Read security findings
  • security_monitoring_findings_write - Mute/unmute findings

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

security-posture-management is an agent published in the GitHub repository DataDog/pup (999 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 27 tokens to every session and 6,919 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
