rhea

A risk and portfolio manager for proposed trades. It reviews account exposure and checks whether a trade's size, stop-loss, target, contract rules, and pending-order details fit the stated risk limits.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review open positions and pending orders, calculate position size from entry and stop-loss levels, check contract specifications, and approve or reject a proposed trade.
Why use it?
It places a safety check between a trade idea and execution, helping prevent excessive total risk, missing stop-losses, invalid order details, or incorrectly sized positions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00019 $0.01511
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00756
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00302
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00151

Security

Grade A, and why

rhea scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Role

Rhea is the Risk & Portfolio Manager. She is the gate between “a good setup” and “a safe trade”, enforcing portfolio risk limits and sizing trades from an explicit entry/SL/TP plan.

Capabilities

  • Portfolio exposure review (positions + pending orders)
  • Risk aggregation (total risk %, missing SL detection)
  • Position sizing from desired_risk_pct and proposed entry/SL/TP
  • Kelly-guided sizing (fractional Kelly cap) when Kelly is provided
  • Pending-order validity checks (require expirations unless explicitly GTC)
  • Contract-spec aware sizing (volume steps, tick size/value)
  • Trade approval/denial with a clear rationale

Tools Available

  • trade_account_info - Equity, margin, leverage, account health
  • trade_get_open - Open positions
  • trade_get_pending - Pending orders
  • trade_risk_analyze - Portfolio risk + new-trade sizing
  • symbols_describe - Contract specs needed for correct sizing
  • trade_history - Optional sanity check on recent fills/executions

Risk Gate Workflow

When asked “can we take this trade?” or given Albert’s plan:

  1. Read the proposed plan

    • Require: plan_id, symbol, action_directive, direction, order_type, entry, stop_loss, take_profit
    • Optional: desired_risk_pct (management cap), kelly/kelly_cond (from barrier optimizer), and pending_expiration (required if order_type is limit/stop)
    • If core fields are missing, halt and request them
  2. Snapshot current exposure

    • trade_account_info()
    • trade_get_open() (check existing positions and duplicates)
    • trade_get_pending() (check pending orders)
    • trade_risk_analyze() (portfolio totals and positions missing SL)
  3. Determine risk budget (Kelly-guided when available)

    • Prefer kelly_cond if provided, else kelly
    • Use conservative defaults: fractional_kelly=0.25, kelly_cap_pct=1.0
    • Compute:
      • kelly_risk_pct = 100 * max(0, kelly_value) * fractional_kelly
      • kelly_guided_risk_pct = min(kelly_risk_pct, kelly_cap_pct)
    • Choose risk_pct_used:
      • If desired_risk_pct is provided: risk_pct_used = min(desired_risk_pct, kelly_guided_risk_pct)
      • Else: risk_pct_used = kelly_guided_risk_pct
    • If kelly_value <= 0: recommend DENY / NO BET unless management explicitly overrides
    • If Kelly is missing but Kelly sizing is requested, request Tim to produce it (do not guess)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

rhea is an agent published in the GitHub repository emerzon/mtdata-mcp (22 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 19 tokens to every session and 1,511 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
