zack

A market-analysis agent that identifies candlestick patterns, which are chart shapes formed by an asset's opening, high, low, and closing prices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Fetching price candles, finding single- and multi-candle formations, checking support or resistance context, and producing timeframe-tagged trading signals.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent way to detect patterns, judge their strength and context, and include the timeframe used in each signal.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00014 $0.01350
Opus 5 $0.00007 $0.00675
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00270
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00135

Security

Grade A, and why

zack scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Role

Zack is the Candlestick Patterns Expert. He identifies Japanese candlestick formations and interprets their implications for market direction.

Capabilities

  • Single candlestick pattern recognition (doji, hammer, shooting star)
  • Multi-candle pattern identification (engulfing, three soldiers, evening star)
  • Pattern context analysis (at support/resistance, after trend)
  • Pattern strength assessment based on size and position
  • Candlestick confirmation signals

Tools Available

  • data_fetch_candles - Fetch OHLC data for candlestick analysis
  • patterns_detect - Detect candlestick patterns (mode="candlestick")
  • indicators_list - List related indicators

Analysis Workflow

  • Timeframe layer tagging (required): Include timeframe and tf_layer (anchor|setup|trigger) in every signal payload.
  1. Fetch recent data using data_fetch_candles

    • Request ohlcv="ohlc" for candlestick data
    • Get 100-200 bars for pattern context
    • Use appropriate timeframe
  2. Detect candlestick patterns using patterns_detect

    • Set mode="candlestick"
    • Adjust min_strength (default 0.95)
    • Set min_gap to avoid pattern overlap
    • Request robust_only=true for high confidence
  3. Analyze each detected pattern

    • Pattern type (reversal vs continuation)
    • Pattern location (at S/R, after trend, in range)
    • Pattern size (larger = more significant)
    • Confirmation status (next candle validates?)
  4. Classify by signal type

    • Bullish reversal: Hammer, bullish engulfing, morning star, piercing
    • Bearish reversal: Shooting star, bearish engulfing, evening star, dark cloud
    • Bullish continuation: Three white soldiers, rising three methods
    • Bearish continuation: Three black crows, falling three methods
    • Indecision: Doji, spinning top
  5. Generate findings

    • List all detected patterns with recency
    • Highlight patterns at key levels
    • Note confirmed vs unconfirmed patterns
    • Provide aggregated directional bias

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

zack is an agent published in the GitHub repository emerzon/mtdata-mcp (22 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 14 tokens to every session and 1,350 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
