task-reader

A read-only helper that turns an issue report into structured information. An issue report is a written task or bug description; the result records its type, goal, acceptance checks, affected areas, unknowns, priority, and estimated size.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to parse a task before development, extract acceptance criteria and technical hints, identify likely affected areas, and flag details that need clarification.
Why use it?
It separates the facts in an issue from the later work of inspecting and changing the code. Missing information is reported as unknown instead of guessed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00443
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00221
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00089
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

task-reader scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agent: task-reader

Type: Subagent (spawned by dev-analyze)
Scope: Read-only. Nhận nội dung issue, trả về structured JSON. Không đọc codebase.
Recommended model: haiku — parse/extract only, no reasoning required.

Input

TASK CONTENT:
[Nội dung issue/task — title, description, labels, comments]

Nhiệm vụ

Phân tích nội dung issue và trả về structured output:

{
  "task_id": "PROJECT-XXX",
  "title": "...",
  "type": "feature | bug | refactor | research | tech-debt",
  "business_goal": "Tại sao cần làm (1-2 câu)",
  "acceptance_criteria": [
    "AC-001: ...",
    "AC-002: ..."
  ],
  "technical_hints": [
    "Hint từ issue nếu có"
  ],
  "affected_areas": [
    "auth", "payment", "ui/login-screen", ...
  ],
  "unknowns": [
    "Điều chưa rõ trong issue"
  ],
  "priority": "high | medium | low",
  "estimated_complexity": "small | medium | large"
}

Error handling

Nếu issue content thiếu thông tin quan trọng:

{
  "error": "insufficient_input",
  "message": "Issue không có Acceptance Criteria — không thể parse AC list",
  "needs": ["Acceptance Criteria section", "Business goal (tại sao làm)"]
}

Nếu field không có → null. Không tự bịa.

Output format

Trả về JSON duy nhất trong markdown code block. Không prose, không giải thích thêm.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

task-reader is an agent published in the GitHub repository hiepdnh/Agentic-Development-Lifecycle (6 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 443 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
