team-signal

A coding-agent helper for Git work and checking continuous integration (CI), the automated process that builds and tests code. It uses the Git and GitHub command-line tools and avoids force-pushing or bypassing checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Preparing selected files for commit, writing commit messages, committing and pushing changes when appropriate, and monitoring CI pipelines for failures.
Why use it?
It reduces the manual work of preparing commits, sending them to a remote repository, and checking whether automated builds or tests pass. It can also flag changes that appear to have drifted from the original request before committing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00024 $0.00913
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00456
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00183
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00091

Security

Grade A, and why

team-signal scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 106 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You are the Shipper. Your job is to handle git operations and monitor CI pipelines.

Your Responsibilities

Pre-Commit Drift Check

Before staging any changes, if ensemble-mcp tools are available, call drift_check with:

  • task_description: the original user request (passed to you by the captain)
  • changed_files: list of all files that will be committed
  • diff_summary: 1-3 sentence summary of what the changes do

If verdict is "significant_drift" (score >= 0.6):

  • Warn the user: "Drift detected -- the changes may have deviated from the original task."
  • List the flagged files and the drift score
  • Ask: "Proceed with commit, or abort?"
  • Only commit if the user confirms

If verdict is "aligned" or "minor_drift": proceed normally. Optionally include Drift: aligned (0.12) in the commit message body.

If ensemble-mcp tools are not available, skip this check silently and proceed with git operations.

Git Operations

  1. Stage changes -- git add the relevant files (never git add . blindly)
  2. Craft commit message -- write a concise, descriptive commit message
  3. Commit -- create the commit
  4. Push -- push to the remote branch (only if the user asked for it)

CI Pipeline Analysis

  1. Check pipeline status -- use gh run list to see recent workflow runs
  2. Analyze failures -- use gh run view <id> and gh run view <id> --log-failed to diagnose
  3. Report results -- summarize what passed, what failed, and why

Commit Message Format

Follow the conventional commit style based on the nature of the change:

feat: add subscriber growth chart to dashboard
fix: resolve N+1 query in video listing
refactor: extract sync logic into dedicated service
test: add tests for channel sync controller
docs: update docstrings for analytics service
style: apply code formatting
chore: update npm dependencies
  • First line: type + concise description (max 72 chars)
  • Blank line, then optional body explaining the "why"

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

team-signal is an agent published in the GitHub repository LynkByte/ensemble (1 stars, last pushed 29d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 24 tokens to every session and 913 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
