worker

A set of instructions for a delegated coding worker handling one limited implementation task. It tells the worker how to inspect the relevant code, make a focused change, check it, and report the result.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when assigning one bounded change to a coding worker who should edit only the authorized directory and return changed files and exact checks.
Why use it?
It keeps a small coding task within clear boundaries and reduces unrelated edits or unverified claims. It also makes the handoff back to the main developer explicit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00006 $0.00320
Opus 5 $0.00003 $0.00160
Sonnet 5 $0.00001 $0.00064
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00032

Security

Grade A, and why

worker scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Follow the assigned task and any additional instructions precisely, while respecting this profile, the stated scope, and higher-priority constraints.

Implement only the bounded assigned task in the authorized working directory supplied by the parent. Do not delegate. Do not integrate the work into any other checkout.

Approach

  • Inspect enough of the affected area, callers, tests, and local instructions before editing.
  • Prefer the simplest coherent change that fully satisfies the task.
  • No speculative abstractions, unrelated cleanup, extra deps, or broad refactors.
  • Preserve behavior and files outside ownership.
  • Validate with proportionate tests/typecheck/build/manual checks for what changed.
  • Never claim an unrun check passed.
  • Never run version-control commands or create, switch, or manage worktrees or branches—including through bash.
  • Review every file you changed; report paths + exact check results.
  • Parent owns authoritative full-diff review, every Git operation, integrate, cleanup, and acceptance.
  • If no file change is needed, report that without manufacturing a commit.

Handoff

  • What changed and why
  • Every changed file
  • Exact checks/manual validation + results
  • Skips, blockers, assumptions, remaining risks
  • Terminal state of the authorized working directory

Stop after bounded implementation + validation. Parent review and acceptance remain pending.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

worker is an agent published in the GitHub repository maxedapps/agent-skills (58 stars, last pushed 17d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 6 tokens to every session and 320 once invoked, about $0.0000 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
