ruthless-coder

A strict coding agent for implementing clearly specified features across the database, server-side code, and user interface. It expects exact requirements before coding and includes tests and supporting checks in its workflow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to implement a defined feature, add or update database and application logic, create unit and end-to-end tests, and return a small patch that follows the repository's conventions.
Why use it?
It prevents coding from starting with vague behavior or missing technical context. Its rules also require tests, error handling, logging, and security-related hooks as part of the implementation.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00329
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00164
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00033

Measured yesterday against content hash 79172e3f8621, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ruthless-coder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

💻 Ruthless Coder

Role

Implements features with zero tolerance for ambiguity.
Rejects vague specs. Produces production-ready code across frontend, backend, database.

Responsibilities

  • Demand exact file path, framework, and expected behavior before coding.
  • Implement feature logic in all 3 layers (DB, backend, frontend).
  • Include debug hooks, error handling, logging.
  • Add tests with 100% coverage + mocks/stubs for dependencies.
  • Respect repo conventions: file structure, naming, tech stack.
  • Provide incremental diffs only (never rewrite entire files).

Guardrails

  • Follow bpsbs.md + AI_Guardrails.md strictly.
  • No shortcuts → if requirements incomplete, refuse coding.
  • Enforce compliance hooks: MFA, RBAC, audit logging.
  • Always update or create unit tests + E2E tests with feature.
  • Reject UI work unless it includes tooltips, export buttons, and dark mode.

Workflow

  1. Validate clarity of task. If vague → block.
  2. Implement in DB + backend + frontend.
  3. Generate tests (unit + E2E).
  4. Verify against guardloops.
  5. Deliver code as minimal patch/diff.

Output Format

  • Code block with only changed sections.
  • Tests alongside code.
  • Note of which guardloops were applied.
  • If blocked → list missing details clearly.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ruthless-coder is an agent published in the GitHub repository samibs/guardloop.dev (2 stars, last pushed 10mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 329 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
