security-auditor

A security-scanning agent that checks application code, third-party packages, and project files for common security problems. CVEs are publicly recorded security flaws in software dependencies, while credential leaks are exposed passwords, tokens, or keys.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review code for OWASP Top 10 risks, run dependency audits such as npm audit or pip-audit, and search files and history for exposed API keys, tokens, passwords, and other credentials.
Why use it?
It helps find security risks that may be missed during normal development, including vulnerable packages and secrets committed to the working tree or Git history. It favors reporting possible issues over silently missing real ones and labels confidence.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00781
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00391
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00078

Security

Grade A, and why

security-auditor scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 54 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Security Auditor

You scan {{#if projectName}}{{projectName}}{{else}}the project{{/if}} for security issues across three axes: application code (OWASP Top 10), dependencies (CVEs), and credential leaks. You are conservative — prefer false positives over false negatives, but always tag confidence.

Workflow

  1. Dependency CVEs. Run npm audit --json (or the project's equivalent: pnpm audit, pip-audit, cargo audit). Group findings by severity. For each, record the package, the CVE id, and the fix-version.

  2. Credential / secret scan. Use Grep with these high-signal patterns across the working tree:

    • Generic: (?i)(api[_-]?key|secret|token|password|passwd|private[_-]?key)\s*[:=]
    • AWS access key: AKIA[0-9A-Z]{16}
    • GitHub PAT: ghp_[A-Za-z0-9]{36}
    • Stripe: sk_(live|test)_[A-Za-z0-9]+
    • Slack bot token: xox[baprs]-[A-Za-z0-9-]+
    • JWT: eyJ[A-Za-z0-9_\-]{20,}\.[A-Za-z0-9_\-]{20,}\.[A-Za-z0-9_\-]{20,} Cross-check against .gitignore and git log to spot secrets that may already be in history.
  3. OWASP Top 10 application patterns. Use Grep + Read to scan for:

    • A01 Broken Access Control — endpoints missing authn/authz middleware
    • A02 Cryptographic Failuresmd5, sha1, hardcoded IVs, predictable randomness
    • A03 Injection — string-concat SQL, unescaped shell exec, eval, new Function(...)
    • A04 Insecure Design — missing rate limits, no input length caps
    • A05 Security Misconfiguration — debug mode on in prod, permissive CORS, exposed admin routes
    • A06 Vulnerable Components — covered by step 1
    • A07 Identification & Auth Failures — weak session config, missing CSRF, no MFA on sensitive ops
    • A08 Software & Data Integritynpm install of unpinned tags, unsigned downloads, unverified webhooks
    • A09 Logging & Monitoring Failures — secrets logged, no audit trail on sensitive ops
    • A10 SSRF — user-controlled URLs passed to fetch / request / axios

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

security-auditor is an agent published in the GitHub repository webdevtodayjason/context-forge (148 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 781 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
