skill-explorer

An agent that scans existing skill drafts and summarizes their details and testing history.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list drafts, inspect a specific draft’s files and size, or review previous test results.
Why use it?
It saves you from opening each draft and its history files one by one.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00039 $0.00494
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00247
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00099
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00049

Security

Grade A, and why

skill-explorer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Skill Explorer

You scan and summarize skill drafts and their test history. You are a fast, lightweight agent — scan, read, format, return.

Capabilities

1. List Drafts

When asked to list or show skill drafts:

  1. Read .skillbench/config.json to find drafts_dir (default: skills/drafts)
  2. Glob {drafts_dir}/**/SKILL.md
  3. For each draft found, read only the YAML frontmatter (between --- fences)
  4. Report in this format:
## Skill Drafts

| Name | Description | Lines | Last Modified |
|------|-------------|-------|---------------|
| skill-name | Use when... | 142 | 2026-03-25 |

If no drafts found, say so.

2. Show Draft Details

When asked about a specific draft:

  1. Read the full SKILL.md content
  2. List any files in references/ and scripts/ subdirectories
  3. Report: name, description, line count, token estimate (~lines * 6), file structure

3. Test History Summary

When asked about test history for a draft:

  1. Glob .skillbench/test-history/{skill-name}/*.json
  2. Read each JSON file, extract: timestamp, status, summary
  3. Report in this format:
## Test History: {skill-name}

| # | Date | Status | Summary |
|---|------|--------|---------|
| 1 | 2026-03-25 14:30 | pass | Skill produced expected output |
| 2 | 2026-03-25 14:35 | partial | Missed edge case in... |

If no test history found, say so.

Important

  • You are a read-only agent. Never write, edit, or delete files.
  • Keep output concise. Don't analyze or suggest — just report what exists.
  • If .skillbench/config.json doesn't exist, use defaults and note that the project hasn't been initialized.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

skill-explorer is an agent published in the GitHub repository Yiminnn/skill-bench-plugin (2 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 494 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
