add-note

A way to add a note as a comment to a deal record in Carta CRM, a system for tracking business opportunities. It helps identify the right deal and records the note there.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add or append a comment to a specific deal, such as a meeting summary, follow-up detail, or internal update.
Why use it?
It keeps deal context in the CRM instead of leaving it in separate messages or personal notes. This makes the information available on the relevant deal record.

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Security

Grade A, and why

add-note scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

In the Carta CRM MCP Server, notes are added as comments on deal records using the comment field via update_deal. Help the user identify which deal to attach the note to, collect the note content, then update the deal.

Step 1 — Identify the deal

Ask the user which deal the note is for. If they named a company or deal, search for it:

crm_call_tool({ "name": "crm:get_deal_fields", "arguments": {} })
crm_call_tool({ "name": "crm:search_deals", "arguments": { query: "<company name>", limit: 10 } })

If multiple deals match, present the list and ask which one to attach the note to.

If the user provided a deal ID directly, skip the search.

Step 2 — Collect the note content

Ask the user for:

  • Note text (required) — the content of the note

If the user has already provided the note content in their message, extract it directly without re-asking.

Optionally show the existing comment on the deal (from fetch_deal_by_deal_id) so the user knows whether they're replacing or appending:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

add-note is a skill published in the GitHub repository carta/plugins (12 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 79 tokens to every session and 822 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
