search-notes

A search tool for finding and reading notes stored in Carta CRM, a customer-relationship management system. It searches note text by a word or phrase and returns note details such as the ID, title, and content.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find notes mentioning a customer, project, or keyword, list matching notes, or retrieve a specific note's text.
Why use it?
It avoids manually opening records to find notes about a topic. It can also handle organisations where interactive CRM results are unavailable.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00077 $0.00841
Opus 5 $0.00039 $0.00420
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00168
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00084

Security

Grade A, and why

search-notes scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

Search for notes in the Carta CRM by keyword using search_notes. Return results in a readable summary.

Step 1 — Collect the search term

If the user provided a keyword or topic, use it directly. If no search term was given, ask for one.

Use crm_view_tool so the result renders as an interactive table the user can sort and click through. It takes exactly the same name and arguments as crm_call_tool.

crm_view_tool({
  "name": "crm:search_notes",
  "arguments": {
    query: "<search term>",
    limit: 20
  }
})

Increase limit if the user asks to see more results. Use offset to paginate when remainingCount > 0.

If the view is unavailable

CRM views are enabled per organisation, so the call above may answer with:

CRM tool 'search_notes' has no view — call it with crm_call_tool instead.

That is a normal response, not a failure — this organisation does not have CRM views enabled. Retry the call verbatim through crm_call_tool and present the result as text per Step 3. Do not retry crm_view_tool, and do not report the message to the user.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
