update-note

Instructions for finding and changing a note stored as a comment on a deal in the Carta CRM. The Carta CRM is a system for tracking relationships, deals, and fundraising activity.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search for a note, identify its deal, review the existing comment, and save revised content.
Why use it?
It explains that notes cannot be edited on their own and must be updated through the deal they belong to.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00078 $0.00761
Opus 5 $0.00039 $0.00380
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00152
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00076

Security

Grade A, and why

update-note scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

Notes in the Carta CRM MCP are accessible via search_notes but are edited as comment fields on deal records via update_deal. Help the user find the note they want to change, then update the associated deal's comment.

Step 1 — Find the note

Search for the note by keyword:

crm_call_tool({ "name": "crm:search_notes", "arguments": { query: "<keyword>", limit: 10 } })

Show the results to the user and ask which note they want to update.

Step 2 — Identify the associated deal

Once the user has selected a note, find the deal it belongs to. Ask the user for the deal name/company, or search:

crm_call_tool({ "name": "crm:get_deal_fields", "arguments": {} })
crm_call_tool({ "name": "crm:search_deals", "arguments": { query: "<company name>", limit: 10 } })

Fetch the deal to show the current comment:

crm_call_tool({ "name": "crm:fetch_deal_by_deal_id", "arguments": { id: "<deal id>" } })

Step 3 — Collect the updated content

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
