migrate

A command that creates database migration files: recorded steps for changing a database’s structure over time.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add tables, fields, roles, or other schema changes with Prisma, Knex, TypeORM, Drizzle, Alembic, or plain SQL.
Why use it?
It checks the existing schema and migration setup first, reducing the risk of generating changes for tables or fields that do not match the project.

Per session 7 Only the description is in the session, so the agent can decide to use it. The body loads when it is invoked.
When invoked 655 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.
Security scan A 0 findings. Scan, not verified.
Origin original No closer match found in the catalogue.
Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00007 $0.00655
Opus 5 $0.00003 $0.00328
Sonnet 5 $0.00001 $0.00131
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00065

Security

Grade A, and why

migrate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Database Migrate

Generate migration files for database schema changes.

Load the database-designer skill for migration strategy and schema versioning patterns.

Usage

/migrate <description> [--type sql|knex|typeorm|drizzle]

Arguments

Parse $ARGUMENTS to extract:

  • description (required) — What the migration does (e.g., "add-user-roles", "create-orders-table")
  • --type (optional) — Migration framework. Auto-detected if not specified.

Instructions

1. Detect Migration Framework

ls prisma/schema.prisma 2>/dev/null # Prisma → use prisma migrate
ls knexfile.* migrations/ 2>/dev/null # Knex
ls ormconfig.* src/migrations/ 2>/dev/null # TypeORM
ls drizzle.config.* 2>/dev/null # Drizzle
ls alembic.ini alembic/ 2>/dev/null # Alembic (Python)

If no framework detected, generate raw SQL migration files.

2. Understand Current Schema

  • Read the current schema (ORM files, existing migrations, or MCP introspection)
  • Understand what exists before generating changes

3. Generate Migration

Raw SQL (default when no ORM): Create timestamped file in migrations/:

migrations/
  YYYYMMDDHHMMSS_<description>.up.sql
  YYYYMMDDHHMMSS_<description>.down.sql

The UP migration should:

  • Create tables, add columns, create indexes, etc.
  • Use IF NOT EXISTS where appropriate
  • Include comments explaining the change

The DOWN migration should:

  • Reverse every change in the UP migration
  • Use IF EXISTS for safety

Knex: Generate a migration file using the Knex pattern:

npx knex migrate:make <description>

Then populate the generated file with the schema changes.

TypeORM:

npx typeorm migration:create src/migrations/<Description>

Drizzle:

npx drizzle-kit generate

4. Review Before Applying

Present the generated migration to the user:

  • Show the full migration code
  • Explain what it does
  • Warn about any destructive operations (DROP, ALTER column type)
  • Note if it requires a data migration (not just schema)
  • Never run the migration automatically — let the user decide

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

migrate is a command published in the GitHub repository iwritec0de/app-dev (3 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 7 tokens to every session and 655 once invoked, about $0.0000 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
