A command that creates one NotebookLM notebook containing several research papers for comparison. Research papers are formal studies, and NotebookLM lets you analyse the sources collected in a notebook.

Use it with two to ten arXiv paper IDs or URLs to compare methods, results, or another chosen aspect. It also suggests prompts for analysing the papers after they are added.
Why use it?
It gathers multiple papers in one place, avoiding separate comparisons across different documents. You can optionally focus the comparison on a topic or create a slide deck or audio discussion.

Compare Papers

Create a single NotebookLM notebook with multiple papers as sources for comparison and analysis.

Arguments

Parse from: $ARGUMENTS

  • PAPERS: Space-separated list of arXiv IDs or URLs (2-10 papers)

Options:

  • --name "NAME": Custom notebook name (default: "Paper Comparison - {date}")
  • --slides: Generate comparison slide deck
  • --audio: Generate audio discussion comparing papers
  • --focus "TOPIC": Focus comparison on specific aspect

Workflow

  1. Parse all provided arXiv IDs/URLs
  2. Create new NotebookLM notebook with descriptive name
  3. Add each paper as a source: a. Click "Add sources" b. Click "Websites" c. Paste arXiv PDF URL d. Click Insert e. Wait for processing
  4. After all sources added, optionally: a. Generate comparison slide deck b. Generate audio overview
  5. Provide chat prompts for comparison analysis

Comparison Prompts

After creating the notebook, suggest these prompts for the user:

  1. Methodology Comparison: "Compare the methodologies used in these papers. What are the key differences in approach?"

  2. Results Comparison: "Compare the experimental results across these papers. Which approach performs best and under what conditions?"

  3. Contribution Comparison: "What are the unique contributions of each paper? How do they complement or contrast each other?"

  4. Timeline/Evolution: "How do these papers build upon each other? What is the progression of ideas?"
