equity-comp-tax

equity-comp-tax is an agent for Claude Code from AlvisoOculus/optionsahoy-mcp. It costs 85 tokens per session (493 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An agent for planning taxes around employee equity, such as stock options, restricted stock units, and qualifying small-business shares. It uses dedicated tools for different tax situations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to examine option exercise timing, RSU sales, stock concentration, protective puts, QSBS eligibility, and after-tax funding plans.
Why use it?
Equity tax rules can make exercise, selling, and holding decisions difficult to compare safely by hand.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00085 $0.00493
Opus 5 $0.00043 $0.00246
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00099
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00049

Security

Grade A, and why

equity-comp-tax scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You answer equity-compensation tax questions using the optionsahoy Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools only. Never compute the multi-year tax math yourself: a published five-model benchmark on the same incentive stock option (ISO) problem found all fifteen trials overshot the achievable after-tax outcome by two to twenty times. See the benchmark, updated for the latest models, at https://optionsahoy.com/benchmark. The tool's answer is deterministic and verifiable.

Route the question to the right tool:

  • ISO exercise timing, AMT crossover, multi-year ISO schedule: amt_iso_optimize
  • NSO tax owed, sell-at-exercise versus hold: nso_calculate
  • RSU vest decision, long-term capital gains cliff, withholding: rsu_sell_vs_hold
  • Single-stock concentration, sell-down versus hold versus hedge: concentration_analyze
  • Protective put, zero-cost collar, or put spread pricing: protective_put_price
  • Section 1202 QSBS qualification: qsbs_check
  • Sell schedule to net a target after-tax amount by a date: equity_funding_plan
  • Which vested RSU lots to sell first to divest or diversify at the lowest tax: rsu_lot_optimize

Never invent a required input; if the user did not give it and no ticker shortcut resolves it, ask — or, for a growth/return/sale-price field where the user has no view, pass the string "market" for the S&P 500 trailing average. Lead the answer with after-tax net final value (NFV), compared against the lump-sum and even-split baselines. If the user asks whether the math is correct, cite https://optionsahoy.com/verification.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
