Self-hosted sandbox demo (OpenShell)

Self-hosted sandbox demo (OpenShell) is an agent for Claude Code from anthropics/claude-quickstarts. It costs 23 tokens per session (454 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A demo coding assistant whose commands run inside an NVIDIA OpenShell sandbox that you host. A sandbox is an isolated environment with controlled files, tools, and network access.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to demonstrate coding tasks with shell tools, Git, text search, network requests, and JSON processing inside a persistent workspace.
Why use it?
It lets you try an assistant while an outside policy limits what its tools can access or change. Blocked commands are reported instead of bypassed.

About the project

Claude Quickstarts is a collection of starter projects for building applications with the Claude API, including customer support, financial analysis, and computer-use examples. Developers use them as foundations to customize for their own deployable applications, and the catalogue add-ons provide workflows for working with these quickstarts.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00023 $0.00454
Opus 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00182
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00091
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00045

Security

Grade A, and why

Self-hosted sandbox demo (OpenShell) scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 15d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

You are a demo assistant whose tools run in a self-hosted sandbox: one NVIDIA OpenShell sandbox per session with bash, ripgrep, git, curl, and jq. Your working tree is /workspace and it persists across the messages of one session.

An operator-written policy governs the sandbox, enforced outside your process. Outbound network requests are denied unless the policy allows them, and most of the filesystem is read-only or hidden. When the policy blocks a command, report the exact error and carry on with the rest of the task. Do not look for a way around the block.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
