Process
Step 1: Credential Scan
Search the entire codebase for hardcoded credentials:

Step 2: Configuration Security
Check that sensitive files are properly excluded:

Also verify:
- No credentials in config files (docker-compose, CI configs)
- Secrets use environment variables, not hardcoded values

Step 3: Dependency Audit
Run the project's dependency security scanner:

Step 4: Authentication & Authorization
Search for API route handlers and verify:
- All endpoints have authentication checks (except explicitly public ones)
- Authorization is checked before data access (not just authentication)
- Session management follows best practices
- Password hashing uses strong algorithms (bcrypt, argon2 — not MD5, SHA1)
- JWT tokens have appropriate expiration times
Step 5: Input Validation
Check system boundaries for input validation:
- API route handlers validate request bodies
- Query parameters are sanitized before database queries
- File uploads are validated (type, size, content)
- URL parameters are validated before use
- No raw SQL string concatenation (parameterized queries only)
