cline

cline is an agent for Claude Code from Cantara/kcp-harness. It costs 0 tokens per session (343 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A setup guide for connecting kcp-harness to Cline, a coding agent available through a Visual Studio Code extension. It explains the MCP server settings, project-level .clinerules file, and which read-only governance tools can be approved automatically.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure Cline's MCP server, generate its connection snippet, add project rules, and set automatic approval for read-only planning, tracing, status, budget, and drift checks.
Why use it?
It removes guesswork when adding the governance server to Cline and clarifies which actions require user approval.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00343
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00171
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00069
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00034

Measured 5d ago against content hash 100630cedc7f, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cline scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Cline

Cline supports MCP servers via its VS Code extension settings UI and project-level rules via .clinerules.

Setup

kcp-harness integrate cline

This generates:

cline-mcp-snippet.json (not committed)

Add this via Cline sidebar > MCP Servers tab > gear icon:

{
  "kcp-harness": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["kcp-harness", "serve"],
    "disabled": false,
    "autoApprove": [
      "kcp_plan",
      "kcp_trace",
      "harness_status",
      "harness_session",
      "harness_budget",
      "harness_temporal_check"
    ]
  }
}

.clinerules (committed)

Governance rules for Cline, including governed paths and mandatory tool usage.

Auto-Approve

The autoApprove list lets Cline call read-only governance tools without a confirmation prompt:

Tool Auto-approved Why
kcp_plan Yes Read-only plan inspection
kcp_trace Yes Read-only decision trace
harness_status Yes Read-only status check
harness_budget Yes Read-only budget query
harness_temporal_check Yes Read-only drift check
kcp_load No Loads content — requires approval

This balances governance visibility (the agent can freely inspect plans and traces) with content access control (loading actual content requires human approval).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cline is an agent published in the GitHub repository Cantara/kcp-harness (0 stars, last pushed 11d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 343 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
