openclaw

openclaw is an agent for coding agents from Cantara/kcp-harness. It costs 0 tokens per session (385 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An open-source agent that can work across multiple communication channels and be extended with plugins. KCP Harness connects to it before prompts are built and before the agent finishes a response.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add governed knowledge loading and decision tracing to OpenClaw tasks.
Why use it?
It can provide approved project knowledge before the agent acts and record a decision trace before the response is finalized. This helps keep work tied to governed information and leaves an audit record.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00385
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00192
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00077
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00038

Measured 4d ago against content hash ac7ff1f13622, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

openclaw scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

OpenClaw

OpenClaw is an open-source multi-channel agent with a plugin hooks system. KCP Harness integrates via two hooks: before_prompt_build and before_agent_finalize.

Setup

kcp-harness integrate openclaw

This generates:

openclaw.json

          "description": "Decision trace for audit trail before finalizing"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}

Plugin Hooks

before_prompt_build

Calls kcp_load to inject governed knowledge into the prompt before it's assembled. This ensures the model sees governed knowledge as part of its context, not as a separate tool call result.

before_agent_finalize

Calls kcp_trace after the agent produces its response, creating a 14-gate decision trace for the audit log. This provides a compliance record of what knowledge was available and why.

The {{task}} Placeholder

Both hooks use {{task}}, which OpenClaw replaces with the current task description. This ensures the harness plans knowledge selection based on the actual task.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

openclaw is an agent published in the GitHub repository Cantara/kcp-harness (0 stars, last pushed 10d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 385 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
