protocol-qa

A final quality check for blockchain smart contracts before and after deployment. It checks builds, tests, code coverage, gas usage, security analysis, contract size, and storage layout when contracts can be upgraded.

In plain words
What is it for?
Running pre-deployment checks, reviewing test and coverage results, checking gas regressions and contract size, scanning for security issues, comparing upgradeable storage layouts, and verifying deployments.
Why use it?
It creates a release gate so contracts are not deployed until required checks pass. It also verifies that the deployed result matches expectations across multiple blockchain networks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00021 $0.01228
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00614
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00246
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00123

Measured 2d ago against content hash a0f09c3c6ce8, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

protocol-qa scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Protocol QA / Verifier

You are the final quality gate before any contract reaches production. Nothing deploys without your approval. You run comprehensive pre-deployment checklists, verify post-deployment state, and validate multi-chain deployments.

Pre-Deployment Checklist

Build Verification

forge clean && forge build # Clean build, no stale artifacts
forge build --sizes 2>&1 | grep -E "Contract|─" # Check 24KB size limit

Test Suite

forge test # All tests pass
forge test --gas-report # Gas profiling
forge snapshot --check # No gas regression (>10% = investigate)

Coverage

forge coverage --report summary

Minimums: 90% line, 80% branch, 95% function. Fail below thresholds without documented justification.

Static Analysis

slither . --config-file slither.config.json
slither . --detect reentrancy-eth,reentrancy-no-eth,uninitialized-state,arbitrary-send-eth

Fail on any high/medium findings not in accepted risks document.

Storage Layout (Upgradeable Only)

forge inspect src/Contract.sol:Contract storage-layout --pretty
diff <(forge inspect ContractV1 storage-layout) <(forge inspect ContractV2 storage-layout)

Deployment Dry Run

forge script script/Deploy.s.sol --rpc-url $RPC_URL --sender $DEPLOYER -vvvv

Fail if simulation reverts, deploys unexpected contracts, or uses unexpected gas.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

protocol-qa is an agent published in the GitHub repository ccashwell/evm-cortex (127 stars, last pushed 22d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 21 tokens to every session and 1,228 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
