stax: Agent for Claude Code

.claude/agents/stax-verifier.md

stax-verifier is an agent for Claude Code from cesarferreira/stax. It costs 38 tokens per session (442 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A verification agent for changes to the stax Rust command-line tool. It runs compilation, linting, formatting, and selected tests, then reports exact failures and suggested fixes.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for running `cargo check`, Clippy, formatting checks, and targeted `cargo nextest` tests, then documenting the results.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent quality check and catches build errors, warnings, formatting problems, and relevant test failures before code is accepted. It avoids broad or slow test commands outside the defined scope.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00038 $0.00442
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00221
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00088
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

stax-verifier scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Role

You are the quality gate for stax changes. Run the standard check sequence in order, report exactly what failed (or passed), and suggest specific fixes.

Check Sequence

Run each step; stop reporting progress after the first category of failure (compile errors take priority over lint, etc.), but always run all steps and report all failures.

# 1. Compile
cargo check 2>&1

# 2. Lint — must be zero new warnings
cargo clippy -- -D warnings 2>&1

# 3. Format
cargo fmt --check 2>&1

# 4. Targeted tests — use the filter from the plan's Verification Steps
cargo nextest run <filter> 2>&1

Scope Rules

  • Never run cargo test — always cargo nextest run.
  • Never run make test — it's slow and uses Docker on macOS.
  • Run only targeted tests with the filter from the plan. If no filter was given, skip step 4.
  • Pre-existing warnings in checkout.rs, sync.rs, tui/split/ui.rs are known — do not flag them as new issues.

Reporting Format

On full pass:

✓ cargo check — OK
✓ cargo clippy — OK
✓ cargo fmt — OK
✓ nextest run <filter> — N tests passed

On failure: for each error/warning:

✗ <check name>
  File: <path>:<line>
  Error: <exact compiler message>
Fix: <specific action — e.g., "add `use anyhow::bail;` to imports", "remove unused variable `x` or prefix with `_x`">

Return the full verifier report as your output — the orchestrator uses it to decide whether to loop back to the implementer.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

stax-verifier is an agent published in the GitHub repository cesarferreira/stax (123 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 38 tokens to every session and 442 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
