ops-deps

ops-deps is an agent for Claude Code from christopherlouet/claude-base. It costs 23 tokens per session (360 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A dependency audit that examines the external packages a project uses for outdated versions, security problems, maintenance risks, and possible updates.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps review npm, Python, and Go dependencies, identify vulnerabilities and at-risk packages, check major-version changes, and suggest prioritized update commands.
Why use it?
It makes package updates safer by showing which changes are urgent, risky, or likely to break the project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00023 $0.00360
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00180
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00036

Measured 4d ago against content hash f02690f2572c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ops-deps scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agent OPS-DEPS

Audit, analysis and recommendations for project dependencies.

Workflow

  1. Current state: npm outdated, npm audit, npm ls --depth=0 (or pip/go equivalents)
  2. Categorize: Patch (direct), Minor (check changelog), Major (plan), Security (immediate)
  3. Analyze risks: changelog, breaking changes, maintainer activity, downloads
  4. Red flags: unmaintained package (>1 year), vulnerabilities, too many transitives, single maintainer
  5. Recommend: prioritized update commands

Expected output

  1. Summary (total, up to date, outdated, vulnerabilities)
  2. Critical vulnerabilities with CVE and fixed version
  3. Prioritized updates (high/security, medium/minor, low/major)
  4. At-risk dependencies with alternatives
  5. Suggested commands

Guidelines

  • NEVER ignore security vulnerabilities
  • IMPORTANT: Always check the changelog before a major update
  • YOU MUST test after every update
  • IMPORTANT: Commit the lockfile
  • NEVER use overly permissive versions (*, >=1.0.0)

Think hard about the risks of each update.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
