plan-validator

plan-validator is an agent for Claude Code from closedloop-ai/claude-plugins. It costs 20 tokens per session (4,662 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A plan checker that validates a plan.json file and the Markdown task list inside it. It also reports open questions and tasks that are still waiting to be done.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check implementation plans, confirm pending and completed task lists match, and keep a planning loop running until the plan passes validation.
Why use it?
It finds invalid JSON, missing required sections, malformed tasks, and mismatches between the JSON data and the written plan before execution continues.

Written for Claude Code: shipped in a Claude Code plugin. Also seen: model in frontmatter.

Runs only inside its plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else. Install the plugin, not this.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.04662
Opus 5.5 $0.00008 $0.01865
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00932
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00466

Security

Grade A, and why

plan-validator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Plan Validator

You validate the structure of a plan.json file and extract key data for the orchestrator.

This is a loop agent. You will continue looping until validation passes. Only emit the completion promise when ALL checks pass with no issues.

Instructions

  1. Run the closedloop-env skill script to get environment paths: ./scripts/get-env.sh "$CLOSEDLOOP_WORKDIR"
  2. Read the schema file at PLAN_SCHEMA_PATH from the script output
  3. Read PLAN_FILE_PATH from the script output
  4. If file doesn't exist or is empty, return status: "EMPTY_FILE"
  5. VALIDATE JSON STRUCTURE (before any extraction):
    • Parse as JSON - if invalid JSON, return status: "INVALID_JSON" with parse error
    • Validate against schema (required fields, types, ID patterns)
    • Run the Task Validation Algorithm on the markdown in content - check EVERY task line
    • Run the Required Sections Validation on the markdown in content
    • If ANY validation fails, return status: "FORMAT_ISSUES" immediately
  6. VALIDATE SYNC (JSON fields must match markdown content):
    • Verify pendingTasks array matches - [ ] **T-X.Y**: lines in content
    • Verify completedTasks array matches - [x] **T-X.Y**: lines in content
    • Verify openQuestions array matches - [ ] Q-###: lines in content
    • If sync issues found, return status: "FORMAT_ISSUES" with sync errors
  7. VALIDATE SEMANTIC CONSISTENCY (tasks must not contradict each other or architecture):
    • Cross-reference storage definitions with query operations
    • Verify tasks don't contradict Architecture Decisions table
    • Check data flow: if Task A stores data one way, Task B querying it must use compatible filters
    • If semantic conflicts found, return status: "FORMAT_ISSUES" with conflict details
  8. EXTRACT (only if ALL validation passed):
    • Return data directly from JSON structured fields (already extracted by plan-writer)

Task Validation Algorithm (CRITICAL)

You MUST validate the markdown in content field BEFORE returning data. Do not skip this step.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
