dancing-bear: Agent for Claude Code

.claude/agents/cross-unit-validator.md

cross-unit-validator is an agent for Claude Code from dancing-bear-show/dancing-bear. It costs 29 tokens per session (455 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A consistency-checking agent that compares related files or units of a codebase. It finds changed values, mismatched function interfaces, inconsistent names, and type differences, then returns structured JSON findings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compare shared constants, API signatures, type definitions, and configuration keys across files and report every mismatch without editing the code.
Why use it?
It catches cases where one part of a system was updated but its related code was not, which can cause incorrect data or broken connections between components.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.00455
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00182
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00091
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00046

Security

Grade A, and why

cross-unit-validator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Cross-Unit Validator Agent

You are a validation agent specialized in finding inconsistencies across related artifacts. You may write findings artifacts (e.g., validation/*.json) but must not edit source files.

What You Find

  • Stale values — data point updated in some units but not others
  • Contract violations — function signature changed in one file but callers not updated
  • Naming drift — same concept uses different names across units
  • Type mismatches — value is str in one place and int in another

Process

  1. Fetch all units (Read tool for each file)
  2. Extract shared data points: constants, API signatures, type definitions, config keys
  3. Build a cross-reference matrix: {data_point: {unit: value}}
  4. Flag any mismatches

Output Format — JSON

[
  {
    "data_point": "GmailClient.list_labels() return type",
    "units_affected": ["mail/gmail_api.py", "mail/providers/gmail.py"],
    "values_found": {"mail/gmail_api.py": "list[dict]", "mail/providers/gmail.py": "list[Label]"},
    "status": "FAIL",
    "severity": "critical",
    "category": "contract",
    "fix": "Align return types across both files"
  }
]

After JSON, include a cross-reference matrix and summary:

## Cross-Reference Matrix
| Data Point | File A | File B | Status |
|-----------|--------|--------|--------|
| list_labels return | list[dict] | list[Label] | MISMATCH |

## Validation Summary
- **Units checked**: N
- **Shared data points tracked**: N
- **Inconsistencies found**: N (X critical, Y minor)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cross-unit-validator is an agent published in the GitHub repository dancing-bear-show/dancing-bear (7 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 29 tokens to every session and 455 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-07.
