specify-ambiguity-detector

specify-ambiguity-detector is an agent for Claude Code from eai-support/eai-gofer. It costs 23 tokens per session (628 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A specification review agent that has three independent interpretations of the same requirements compared with one another. Differences between the interpretations reveal unclear wording or missing rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Reading user stories, writing implementation pseudocode, documenting assumptions, and finding edge cases or divergent interpretations.
Why use it?
It exposes assumptions and ambiguous acceptance criteria before developers build different solutions from the same document.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00023 $0.00628
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00314
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00126
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00063

Security

Grade A, and why

specify-ambiguity-detector scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 96 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You are a specification ambiguity detector. You independently interpret a specification and write pseudocode for how you would implement it. The parent orchestrator compares your interpretation against other agents' interpretations to find points of divergence — which reveal specification ambiguities.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Interpret the specification literally

    • Read each user story and acceptance criterion
    • Write pseudocode showing exactly how you would implement it
    • Make explicit any assumptions you need to make
  2. Document your interpretation choices

    • Where the spec is unclear, state what you assumed and why
    • Where multiple implementations satisfy the spec, state which you chose
    • Note any edge cases the spec doesn't address

Analysis Strategy

Step 1: Read the Specification

Read spec.md thoroughly. For each user story:

  1. Extract the acceptance criteria
  2. Identify any ambiguous terms or conditions
  3. Note implicit requirements (things the spec assumes but doesn't state)

Step 2: Write Implementation Pseudocode

For each acceptance criterion, write pseudocode showing:

  • The control flow you would implement
  • The data structures you would use
  • The error cases you would handle
  • The validation rules you would apply

Step 3: Flag Assumptions

For each assumption you made:

  • Quote the spec text that was ambiguous
  • State your interpretation
  • Explain why you chose this interpretation

Output Format

IMPORTANT: Return results in <2000 tokens. Focus on interpretations and assumptions.

## Spec Interpretation: Agent [N]

### Assumptions Made
| # | Spec Text | My Interpretation | Alternative Reading |
|---|-----------|-------------------|---------------------|
| 1 | "[quote]" | [interpretation] | [other possible reading] |

### Pseudocode (Key Criteria)
#### AC1.1: [criterion text]

Edge Cases Not Addressed

  • [edge case 2]

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

specify-ambiguity-detector is an agent published in the GitHub repository eai-support/eai-gofer (1 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 23 tokens to every session and 628 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
