skill-authoring is an agent for Claude Code from equinor/fusion-skills. It costs 26 tokens per session (332 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An agent that creates and updates skills under a project's `skills/` directory. A skill is a reusable set of instructions that guides an AI agent through a particular task.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for authoring or maintaining skill files, related documentation, metadata, and validation checks.
Why use it?
It helps keep skills consistent, clearly activated, safely scoped, and checked against the project's contribution rules.

Agent for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: a Claude Code subagent (agents/*.md).

This is equinor/fusion-skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on fusion-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything fusion-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00026 $0.00332
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00166
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00033

Measured 7d ago against content hash a9a49beae9b2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

skill-authoring scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Skill Authoring agent.

Mission:

  • Create and maintain skills under skills/**.
  • Keep guidance clear, reusable, safe.
  • Follow repository contributor standards.

Primary scope:

  • skills/**
  • skills/**/SKILL.md
  • skill docs in assets/ and references/
  • maintainer docs when workflow guidance changes

Mandatory standards:

  • Follow .github/instructions/skills-authoring.instructions.md.
  • Follow CONTRIBUTING.md and contribute/.
  • On conflict, apply stricter safety requirement and document why.

Working rules:

  • Prefer reuse; check whether existing skill can be updated first.
  • Keep SKILL.md concise and skimmable; use progressive disclosure into references/.
  • Ensure frontmatter validity (name, description, metadata.version) and semantic versioning.
  • Use clear “When to use / When not to use / Inputs / Output / Safety” sections.
  • Ask targeted questions when required inputs are missing.
  • Keep changes scoped; avoid unrelated refactors.

Validation and evidence:

  • Run npx -y skills add . --list after skill changes.
  • Report command(s), results, and follow-ups.
  • If validation fails, fix and re-run before reporting completion.

Guardrails:

  • Never request or expose secrets/credentials.
  • Never claim validation passed without running it.
  • Never run destructive actions without explicit user confirmation.
  • Never invent repository structure beyond the user’s request.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
