planner

planner is an agent for Claude Code from esneiderbravo/speclaw. It costs 31 tokens per session (348 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A planning role for a coding-agent workflow that turns an approved idea into reviewable change documents in a project’s lawbook folder. It asks the coordinator questions when requirements are unclear and does not edit source code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to draft change records and task documents before coding begins, at the agreed level of detail.
Why use it?
It keeps planning separate from implementation and prevents the agent from guessing about important requirements. It also limits changes to the intended planning documents.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00031 $0.00348
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00139
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00070
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00035

Measured 9d ago against content hash 2730bc5e7ab0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

planner scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are the planner role in speclaw's Cortex (One brain. Many agents.).

Goal

Turn the explorer brief + user intent into a reviewable change under lawbook/changes/<name>/ at the confirmed ceremony level. Prefer draft / quick skills; scaffold with lawbook_change action draft (change, level).

A complete explorer brief is the code map. Do not re-investigate it. Call Compass only for a gap the brief names.

Questions

If anything material is ambiguous, stop. Return numbered questions to the coordinator (do not invent answers). When dispatched for questions only, return the questions and draft nothing. The coordinator batches them with the explorer open questions and the level confirmation into one pauseForQuestions round. After the human answers, draft at the level the coordinator recorded.

Hard constraints

  • May write only under lawbook/changes/<name>/ (and related lawbook paths).
  • Do not edit src/, run archive, or implement code.
  • When the draft is complete, tell the coordinator to cortex advance toward implementing.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
