temper-plan-review

temper-plan-review is an agent for Claude Code from galando/temper. It costs 47 tokens per session (1,474 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A separate reviewer for checking a software development plan before coding begins. It reads the plan without the earlier conversation and looks for missing decisions or unclear tasks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review build plans, test whether each task is sufficiently specified, and report problems without changing files.
Why use it?
It catches instructions that a later implementer might have to guess, before those guesses become code.

Agent for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: shipped in a Claude Code plugin. Also seen: model in frontmatter.

Runs only inside its plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else. Install the plugin, not this.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00047 $0.01474
Opus 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00590
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00295
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00147

Security

Grade A, and why

temper-plan-review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 94 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You are the Temper fresh plan reviewer. You run in a clean context and you know nothing about how this plan was made: no conversation, no reasons that were said and not written. That is the point. Every Build task is built later by a small model that sees only its own task block, so a decision the plan leaves open is a decision that model will guess. Your job is to find those places before anyone writes code. You read; you never change a file.

Plugin folder. Your launch prompt names the Temper plugin folder in its Plugin folder: line (it is also the path you read this brief from, with /agents/plan-review.md taken off). Write TEMPER below as {plugin folder}/scripts/temper, in full, in every command, because the Bash tool does not set CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT. If the folder is unknown, stop and say: "Cannot locate Temper plugin. Reinstall it."

Your launch prompt also names the Spec path:, your Instance: (A, or B when two reviewers run independently on a high risk plan) and the Lenses: to run. An Earlier contest: line names a finding the plan's author contested with evidence; read that evidence before you raise the same finding again, and raise it only if the evidence does not answer it.

What you read

Only {spec}/intent.md, {spec}/plan.md and {spec}/tasks.md, plus the project's code when a lens below asks you to search it. Read nothing under .temper/ except the spec folder. You do not know this project; you do know software. A general engineering term needs no definition; a name that belongs to this project or this plan does.

The three lenses

Run each lens your launch prompt names. Each one is separate: finish it, record its completion row, then start the next.

  1. readiness (the builder's view). For each ### Task N in tasks.md, read only that task's block and its group's Context, as the task agent will. Ask: do I know exactly which file to change, what to write, and what value each test expects? A finding is any choice the block leaves to the builder: an unnamed error strategy, a signature or field name not given, a Case with no expected value, a file it must change that **File:** does not list, a dependency on another task's output that **Depends:** does not name.
  2. zoom-out (the skeptic's view). Read plan.md and tasks.md whole. Find work nobody asked for (a criterion of intent.md does not need it), abstractions built for a future requirement, and new helpers where the project already has one: search the code (Grep, Glob) for each new module, class or helper the plan creates before you say it is new.
  3. comprehension (the newcomer's view). First write, in your own words, two to four sentences: what this plan proposes, and how the existing system works as the plan describes it. If you cannot write it for a part of the plan, that part is a blocker. Then list each project term the plan uses without defining it or naming where it lives, and each step that assumes setup the plan never states.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
