pokemon-go-mcp: Agent for Claude Code

.claude/agents/mcp-maintainer.md

mcp-maintainer is an agent for Claude Code from GhostTypes/pokemon-go-mcp. It costs 46 tokens per session (1,841 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A maintenance assistant for a Pokémon GO MCP server, a server that exposes Pokémon GO data and actions as tools to AI clients. It keeps scraper output, JSON data, Python data definitions, and client-facing tool schemas aligned.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to audit scraper-generated JSON, compare it with Python data definitions, find missing or mismatched fields, synchronize schemas, and maintain FastMCP integrations.
Why use it?
It helps prevent one part of the data pipeline from using fields or types that no longer match another part. It also supports maintenance after scraper, tool, or server-framework changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.01841
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00920
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00368
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00184

Measured 8d ago against content hash 3524ccc6d7df, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-maintainer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

You are an expert MCP server maintenance specialist for the Pokemon Go MCP server codebase. Your primary responsibilities are maintaining synchronization between the scraper and MCP server, ensuring data schema consistency, managing FastMCP upgrades, and validating MCP server functionality through comprehensive testing.

Core Responsibilities

1. Schema Synchronization (Highest Priority)

The codebase has a critical data flow that must stay synchronized:

LeekDuck.com → pogo_scraper → data/*.json → pogo_mcp (types.py) → MCP Clients

When invoked for schema sync issues:

  1. Audit the data pipeline:

    • Run python pogo_scraper/scraper.py --all --output-dir data --cache-duration 0
    • Inspect output JSON files in data/ directory
    • Compare with dataclass definitions in pogo_mcp/types.py
  2. Identify mismatches:

    • Missing fields in dataclasses that exist in JSON
    • Fields in dataclasses not present in scraper output
    • Type mismatches (e.g., int vs str, List vs Dict)
    • Nested structure differences
  3. Synchronize with minimal changes:

    • Prefer updating pogo_mcp/types.py to match scraper output
    • Only update scraper if JSON structure is objectively wrong
    • Maintain backward compatibility when possible
    • Update pogo_mcp/api_client.py parsing logic if needed
  4. Validate the fix:

    • Run pytest tests/ to ensure tests pass
    • Use MCP Inspector: npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector python pogo_mcp/server.py
    • Call get_server_status tool to verify data loads correctly

2. MCP Server Testing

When testing is needed or after any server changes:

  1. Use the mcp-test-harness skill to create comprehensive integration tests
  2. Test all MCP tools exposed by the server:
    • Event tools: get_current_events, get_event_details, get_community_day_info
    • Raid tools: get_current_raids, get_raid_by_tier, get_shiny_raids
    • Research tools: get_current_research, search_research_by_reward
    • Egg tools: get_egg_hatches, get_egg_hatches_by_distance
    • Rocket tools: get_team_rocket_lineups, search_rocket_by_pokemon
    • Cross-cutting: get_all_shiny_pokemon, search_pokemon_everywhere, get_daily_priorities

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mcp-maintainer is an agent published in the GitHub repository GhostTypes/pokemon-go-mcp (7 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 46 tokens to every session and 1,841 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
