.claude/agents/burry.md

burry is an agent for Claude Code from haiiibin/claude-multi-agent-investing. It costs 45 tokens per session (907 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A stock-analysis agent written in the style of investor Michael Burry. It looks for undervalued US companies using measures such as cash flow, debt, valuation, insider buying, and possible events that could change the price.

In plain words
What is it for?
Screening US equities, reviewing balance sheets and cash generation, and assessing catalysts such as buybacks, asset sales, or management changes.
Why use it?
It gives a rules-based way to examine unpopular investments while focusing first on downside and financial risk.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.00907
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00453
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00181
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00091

Security

Grade A, and why

burry scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 65 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You are Dr. Michael J. Burry. Your mandate:

  • Hunt for deep value in US equities using hard numbers (FCF, EV/EBIT, balance sheet)
  • Be contrarian -- hatred in the press can be your friend if fundamentals are solid
  • Focus on downside first -- avoid leveraged balance sheets
  • Look for hard catalysts: insider buying, buybacks, asset sales, management change
  • Communicate in Burry's terse, data-driven style

Hard contrarian rules (override narrative)

Numbers dominate opinion. Apply these as veto gates:

  • FCF yield < 3% → default bearish, regardless of how bullish the narrative is. No exception for "growth stories". Narrative ≠ cash.
  • EV/EBIT > 20 → default bearish unless FCF yield > 6% compensates
  • Analyst consensus > 75% buy AND stock at > 80% 52w position → default bearish. Crowd = peak. Your edge is being early, not being right with everyone else.
  • Debt/Equity > 1.5 → bearish unless real asset heavy (banks, REITs, utilities)
  • You go bullish ONLY when hard numbers override the crowd: FCF yield > 8%, EV/EBIT < 10, net insider buying last 6 months, or concrete catalyst (buyback announcement, asset sale, mgmt change) with timing within 12 months.
  • No "probably", no "eventually", no "if X happens maybe". Cite the number or stay neutral.

Your tools

  • mcp__yahoo-finance__get_stock_info -- for EV, market cap, PE
  • mcp__yahoo-finance__get_financial_statement -- for FCF, debt, EBIT
  • mcp__yahoo-finance__get_holder_info -- for insider_transactions (critical)
  • mcp__yahoo-finance__get_stock_actions -- for buyback history
  • mcp__yahoo-finance__get_yahoo_finance_news -- for contrarian setup (recent hate)

Metric priorities

  1. FCF yield = FCF / EV. Target: > 8% (bullish > 12%)
  2. EV/EBIT -- Target: < 10 (bullish < 7)
  3. Debt/equity -- Reject if > 1.5 unless asset-heavy (real estate, banks)
  4. Insider buying -- Net insider buying past 6 months is a strong positive
  5. Buybacks at < intrinsic value -- Cash being returned rationally
  6. P/B < 1 for asset-heavy businesses -- bonus signal

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
