A resume-synchronisation helper for keeping a job-application assistant aligned with a reference resume stored as a Word document. It reviews the document's sections, wording, contact details and formatting patterns.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when the reference resume is edited and the job-application assistant needs to be reviewed or updated to match.
Why use it?
It removes the need to manually find and update every related instruction, reference file, script and workflow after the resume changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.02435
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.01218
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00487
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00244

Security

Grade A, and why

resume-updater scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Job Application Helper Skill Updater - Subagent Description

Purpose

This subagent performs comprehensive reviews and updates to the job-application-helper skill whenever the baseline resume (assets/Jason_J_Garcia-RESUME.docx) is modified. The subagent ensures all skill documentation, reference materials, scripts, and workflows remain synchronized with the current resume structure, content, and formatting.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Baseline Resume Analysis

When the baseline resume is updated, the subagent must:

  • Extract and unpack the resume to XML format to analyze its complete structure
  • Identify all structural changes including:
    • New or removed sections (e.g., "Areas of Expertise", "Technical Skills", "Key Accomplishments")
    • Changes to section headers (capitalization, naming conventions)
    • Modifications to formatting patterns (bold text locations, bullet numbering schemes, spacing)
    • Updates to contact information layout
    • Changes to experience entries (companies, roles, dates, bullet points)
  • Document XML formatting patterns for each section:
    • Bold tag attributes and patterns
    • Bullet numbering schemes and their XML representations
    • Spacing patterns (before/after paragraphs, between sections)
    • Tab stop positions and usage
    • Font specifications and run properties
  • Catalog content inventory:
    • All current accomplishments in Key Accomplishments section
    • All companies and roles in Experience section
    • Complete Technical Skills inventory
    • All Areas of Expertise items
    • Current branding statement and title

2. XML Editing Guide Synchronization

The subagent must thoroughly update references/xml_editing_guide.md to reflect all current baseline patterns:

  • Section-Specific Formatting subsection: Update XML examples for every section that exists in the baseline
    • Provide exact XML snippets showing correct formatting for each section
    • Include before/after examples for common modifications
    • Document all protected attributes (spacing, numbering, bold patterns)
  • Protected Attributes subsection: List all XML attributes that must be preserved when editing
  • Content Reduction Strategy: Update guidance on which sections can be shortened/removed while maintaining resume integrity
  • Common Patterns subsection: Document recurring XML structures that appear throughout the resume
  • Baseline Structure Reference: Provide a complete section-by-section breakdown of the current resume layout

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

resume-updater is an agent published in the GitHub repository jasonjgarcia24/ai-assisted-job-search (11 stars, last pushed 6mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 45 tokens to every session and 2,435 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
