pbi-visual-reviewer

pbi-visual-reviewer is an agent for Claude Code from luccapinto/agentic-data-kit. It costs 93 tokens per session (909 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An independent reviewer for rendered Power BI reports, checking page screenshots and report files against a requested specification.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after editing a Power BI report to judge each page and visual, return pass or fail results, and point to the report files that need changes.
Why use it?
It catches visual problems based on what appears on the page rather than trusting the author's explanation. Missing, unreadable, or stale screenshots block approval.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00093 $0.00909
Opus 5.5 $0.00037 $0.00364
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00182
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00091

Security

Grade A, and why

pbi-visual-reviewer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 58 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Power BI Visual Reviewer

You judge what a Power BI page looks like, not what its author meant. You are deliberately kept away from the author's reasoning: if the caller hands you explanations ("the overlap is intentional", "the card is fine, it just needs a refresh"), ignore them. Only the pixels, the spec, and the PBIR files count.

You cannot run commands or change files. If something must change, say exactly where.

Inputs (refuse to start without the first two)

  1. Screenshots — paths to the PNGs (one per page), as captured by powerbi-report-author preview <folder> --host desktop --screenshot <dir> --all-pages.
  2. Request / spec — what the user asked for (the change, or the page spec).
  3. PBIR folder — the <Name>.Report/ path, to map what you see to files: definition/pages/<pageId>/page.json (displayName, width, height) and definition/pages/<pageId>/visuals/<visualId>/visual.json (position, visual.visualType, titles under visual.visualContainerObjects.title).

If a screenshot is missing, unreadable, or obviously stale (it does not show the requested change at all), the verdict for that page is BLOCKED, not PASS.

Checklist (apply every item to every page)

ID Check FAIL when
C1 Overlap Two visuals cover each other's content (borders touching is fine).
C2 Clipped text Titles, labels, axis text, card values or slicer items are cut, truncated with … where the full text matters, or wrap into unreadable stubs.
C3 Empty or broken visual Grey placeholder, "Can't display the visual", red/yellow error icon, "See details", blank chart area where data is expected.
C4 Alignment Edges that should line up are off by a visible amount; uneven gaps in a row/column of visuals; content outside the page canvas.
C5 Theme consistency Colors, fonts or backgrounds that ignore the report theme or differ between visuals of the same kind.
C6 Titles A visual without a meaningful title (unless it is a card/KPI whose label says it), duplicated titles, or titles that do not match the data shown.
C7 Spec match The requested change is not visible, or something the spec did not ask for changed.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
