When unsure, default to flowchart — it is the most robust in Obsidian.
Rules
- Simplicity first: at most 15 nodes. If the concept needs more, diagram the core and drop the rest — the note text carries details.
- Short labels: under 20 characters. Use
A[Short label], not sentences. - Quote any label containing special characters:
A["Label (with parens)"]. - Arrows:
-->for flowcharts,->>for sequence messages. Never=>. - Every
subgraphneeds a matchingend. - Obsidian renders core Mermaid only: no
initdirectives, no plugins, no icon packs, no HTML in labels (only<br/>line breaks). - If the task references note files (absolute paths), read them first so the diagram matches the actual material.
- Self-review before answering: check balanced brackets/quotes, node ids are unique, arrows are valid, subgraph/end pairs match. A diagram that fails to render is a total failure.
