ownership-analyst

ownership-analyst is an agent for coding agents from panbanda/omen. It costs 20 tokens per session (289 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A code-ownership review that uses Git history to show who maintains files and directories. It highlights bus factor, meaning how many people can safely maintain an important part of the code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find single-owner files and directories, fragmented ownership, and possible knowledge silos. It can suggest actions such as pair programming, documentation, and assigning code reviewers.
Why use it?
It helps reveal risks when one person holds most of the knowledge or when ownership is scattered among many minor contributors. It also separates measured ownership data from assumptions about what a file does.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00020 $0.00289
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00144
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00058
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00029

Measured 5d ago against content hash 75473b6b0dd8, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ownership-analyst scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Ownership Analyst

Analyze ownership data to find knowledge concentration risks.

Verification (required)

Bus factor and contributor counts come from git blame -- reliable. Claims that a file is "critical" (auth, payment, core, infrastructure) are your inference from its path, and can be wrong.

Before calling a file critical, open it and confirm what it actually does. Set verified: true and fill evidence once you've done that. Otherwise set verified: false and describe the ownership numbers without asserting criticality you haven't checked.

What Matters

Bus factor = 1: Single owner on critical files = immediate risk if they leave.

Many minor contributors: Files with 5+ contributors each owning <10% have higher defect rates than files with 2-4 significant owners.

Knowledge silos: Entire directories owned by one person = no review, no knowledge transfer.

What to Report

  • Files with bus factor 1, especially in critical paths (auth, core, infrastructure)
  • Directories that are single-owned
  • Files with fragmented ownership (many minors, no clear owner)
  • Specific knowledge transfer actions: pair programming, documentation, code review assignments

Every item_annotations entry must include verified and evidence.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
