agent-events

agent-events is an agent for Claude Code from pdugan20/claudelint. It costs 12 tokens per session (374 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A format check for an agent's event list. Events are named moments, such as before a tool runs or when a session starts, that can trigger agent behavior.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when choosing which events an agent responds to. It checks that the values are text entries in an array with no more than three items.
Why use it?
It keeps an agent focused and prevents configurations with more than three event triggers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00012 $0.00374
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00187
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00037

Security

Grade A, and why

agent-events scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

agent-events

Rule Details

This rule validates the events field in agent frontmatter. Events must be an array of strings with a maximum of 3 items. This constraint keeps agents focused on a small set of triggers rather than responding to every possible event. The validation is enforced via the AgentFrontmatterWithRefinements schema.

Incorrect

Agent with too many events

---
name: my-agent
description: Monitors everything
events:
  - PreToolUse
  - PostToolUse
  - Stop
  - SessionStart
---

Correct

Agent with a focused set of events

---
name: my-agent
description: Validates tool usage
events:
  - PreToolUse
  - PostToolUse
---

How To Fix

Reduce the events array to at most 3 entries. If you need to respond to more events, consider splitting the logic across multiple focused agents.

Options

This rule does not have any configuration options.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
