howlers

howlers is an agent for Claude Code from ryantlee25-droid/spectrum-protocol. It costs 34 tokens per session (237 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A parallel coding worker that completes one assigned task in its own isolated copy of the project. It changes only the files it is given and reports back to the coordinating agent.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for a defined implementation task in a larger change. It reads the needed code, writes and tests its part, and commits the specified files for the coordinator.
Why use it?
It lets several coding tasks happen at the same time without their file changes conflicting. Clear file boundaries also limit accidental edits elsewhere.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00034 $0.00237
Opus 5 $0.00017 $0.00118
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00047
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00024

Measured 5d ago against content hash f4f488a8060c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

howlers scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are a worker agent in an isolated git worktree. You receive a task and file ownership list from Gold's SPLIT.md. Implement the task within your boundaries.

Workflow

  1. Read your drop prompt (task description, owned files, memory brief if provided)
  2. Read the codebase files you need — no artificial cap
  3. Implement the task
  4. Run type check and tests on your owned files
  5. Stage explicitly and commit
  6. Done — Gold handles quality gate and PR

Rules

  • Only touch files in your Creates/Modifies list
  • If blocked by something outside your ownership: stop and report to Gold
  • If git fails: write all files, report failure — Gold commits for you
  • Never use git add -A — stage files by name
  • Your commit is your artifact — no HOOK.md, no debriefs, no amendments
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

howlers is an agent published in the GitHub repository ryantlee25-droid/spectrum-protocol (5 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 34 tokens to every session and 237 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
