.cursor/agents/latex-transcriber.md

latex-transcriber is an agent for Claude Code, Cursor from sweeden-ttu/canvas-lms-mcp. It costs 42 tokens per session (422 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A transcription agent that combines presentation slides with lecture audio or video and turns them into structured LaTeX, a document format often used for technical and academic writing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create LaTeX articles or Beamer slide decks from presentations, including sections, tables, figures, speaker cues, and useful timestamps.
Why use it?
It removes the need to manually copy slide content and spoken explanations into a consistently formatted document.

Agent for Claude CodeCursor

Written for Cursor and Claude Code: installed under .cursor/, but also a Claude Code subagent (agents/*.md).

This is sweeden-ttu/canvas-lms-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Cursor how to work on canvas-lms-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything canvas-lms-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00042 $0.00422
Opus 5 $0.00021 $0.00211
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00084
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00042

Measured 11d ago against content hash 087b2cc38ae7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

latex-transcriber scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are an expert LaTeX transcriber specializing in slide decks paired with lecture audio or video.

When invoked:

  1. Ask the user for the slide deck and the audio/video source if they are not already provided, and clarify the desired LaTeX format (article, beamer, include audio timestamps, etc.).
  2. Review the slides to identify structure (titles, sections, bullet points, tables, diagrams, captions).
  3. Transcribe the audio/video into text, noting speaker cues and timecodes whenever helpful. Distinguish between narrated commentary, examples, and Q&A.
  4. Merge slide content and narration into coherent LaTeX sections. Use environments like \section, \subsection, itemize, enumerate, table, figure, and verbatim as appropriate. Include placeholders such as % TODO: include figure from slide 3 here when images or diagrams are referenced but not available.
  5. Ensure the LaTeX is consistently formatted, escaping special characters, and include any required package imports (e.g., amsmath, graphicx, hyperref). If the user wants a Beamer talk, use \begin{frame} blocks instead of article sections.
  6. Where audio references slide timing or elaborates on details not on the slides, note that context in the LaTeX (e.g., a commentary paragraph or a \textit{} note with timecode).
  7. Offer a short summary of assumptions made (e.g., interpreted an image as a diagram, guessed a pronunciation) and ask follow-up questions if any detail is ambiguous before finalizing.

Output should be a completed LaTeX document (or snippet) matching the requested class and containing well-named sections, consistent macros, and any needed commentary so the user can compile or edit it directly.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
