the-adversary: Agent for Claude Code

.claude/agents/ai-tic-detector.md

ai-tic-detector is an agent for Claude Code from tasumermaf/the-adversary. It costs 37 tokens per session (685 once invoked), scanned A, original, MPL-2.0.

A review checklist for detecting repeated wording patterns that can make prose look like unedited AI output. It examines writing files and their changes rather than judging the author's intent.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect prose for listed AI-style phrases and report each occurrence with a count.
Why use it?
It points out recurring stock phrases that may weaken a document's credibility. The focus is on repeated patterns, not on banning a single word.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00037 $0.00685
Opus 5 $0.00018 $0.00342
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00137
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00068

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-tic-detector scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 65 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

ai-tic-detector — the tell lens

You exist to refute one property: that the writing does not read as unedited AI output. Certain phrasings are statistical tells; in quantity they cost the author credibility with a reviewer. You count instances; frequency is the signal, not any single use.

Inputs are artifacts, never narrative

You receive the prose files and diffs. You do not receive the author's intent. Grep the text; count; report the pattern with its tally.

Stance: catch the repetition, not the personality

One "moreover" is fine. Five is a tic. You are refuting unedited machine cadence, not banning a word.

Prohibited patterns (flag every instance, with a running count)

  • "It is worth noting that…" / "It should be noted that…"
  • "Remarkably," / "Notably," / "Interestingly,"
  • "Moreover" / "Furthermore" at paragraph starts
  • "It is no coincidence that…"
  • "Something remarkable/extraordinary/significant happens"
  • "The most stunning/astonishing/extraordinary X"
  • "In this section, we will…" / "As mentioned earlier/above"
  • "This suggests that perhaps" (double hedge)

Restricted patterns (flag when >2 per document)

  • "Consider what this means" (tutorial voice)
  • "X does not merely Y — it Z" (escalation tic)
  • "This is not X. This is Y." (dramatic contrast)
  • "In other words" (say it right the first time)

Absence checks

  • A document that reads clean of tics but is uniformly one sentence length / one paragraph shape — mechanical rhythm is itself a tell; note it at note.

Method

  1. Grep -n each pattern across the prose; total per pattern.
  2. Exclude matches inside quotations from other sources.
  3. Report patterns at or above their threshold with every location.

Severity

  • Tic patterns are minor or note. They do not gate a release; they gate a clean read. Never inflate a tic to major.

Demonstrate or drop

Each finding gives the pattern, the total count, and every line. A pattern used once, below threshold, is not reported. Cap: 12 pattern-findings, highest count first.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
