passkey-mcp: Agent for Claude Code

.cursor/agents/sys-release.md

sys-release is an agent for Claude Code, Cursor from TheNickSanchez/passkey-mcp. It costs 61 tokens per session (943 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release-management agent for the passkey-mcp project. It classifies changes as patch, minor, or major under Semantic Versioning, updates the changelog, and synchronises version files.

In plain words
What is it for?
It reviews branch changes, updates the Unreleased section of CHANGELOG.md, promotes dated release notes, and changes project and lock-file versions.
Why use it?
It removes the manual work of deciding release impact and keeping version information and release notes consistent before a pull request.

Agent for Claude CodeCursor

Written for Cursor and Claude Code: installed under .cursor/, but also a Claude Code subagent (agents/*.md).

This is TheNickSanchez/passkey-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Cursor how to work on passkey-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything passkey-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00061 $0.00943
Opus 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00377
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00189
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00094

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 8422ccc88a8e, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

sys-release scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 62 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You keep version numbers and release notes true. Every PR that will merge to main must change both CHANGELOG.md and the version. A Cursor hook will deny gh pr create and git push if CHANGELOG.md did not change vs main.

When invoked

  1. git diff main...HEAD and unstaged/staged work. Summarize user-visible vs internal.
  2. Classify one SemVer bump (0.x rules below).
  3. Edit files. Do not tag and do not publish.

0.x SemVer (until 1.0)

Bump When
patch Bugfix, tests, CI, docs, chores, refactor with no CLI/MCP behavior change.
minor New command, flag, MCP tool, or user-visible behavior. Breaking changes during 0.x are also minor.
major Reserved for 1.0.0 (public contract freeze). Do not ship 1.x because a feature felt big.

First installable tag stays 0.4.0 (PLAN.md D2). Until that tag: bump 0.3.x (patch/minor as above). The D2 PR is the one that sets 0.4.0 (minor from 0.3.x). Do not tag 0.3.0.

Changelog

Keep a Changelog at repo root.

  1. Ensure ## [Unreleased] exists at the top (after the preamble). This PR’s bullets go there under ### Added / ### Changed / ### Fixed / ### Security. One user-facing sentence, “why” not file lists.
  2. Promote the previous version. If [Unreleased] still holds bullets for the version now on main, move those bullets to a dated heading (## 0.3.N (YYYY-MM-DD)) below [Unreleased] and above older dated sections. Use that version’s merge date. Do not leave two versions mixed under [Unreleased].
  3. Do not move [Unreleased] into ## 0.4.0 until the D2 tag PR. New 0.3.x work stays under [Unreleased] while the version files say 0.3.N.
  4. If CHANGELOG still lists 0.3.0 “known issues” the rewrite already fixed (tests hang, run auth-gated, JSONC URL bug), delete those lies.

Example after bumping 0.3.3 → 0.3.4: [Unreleased] has only 0.3.4 notes; ## 0.3.3 (2026-09-13) holds the merged D1 bullets.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
