scout

scout is an agent for Claude Code from timharris707/skills. It costs 56 tokens per session (249 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only research agent that answers questions by examining files, issues, pull requests, CI logs, command output, and documentation. It reports the answer together with the evidence and locations it found.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for checking repository state, reading implementation or documentation, inspecting CI results, and gathering evidence about a specific question.
Why use it?
It separates fact-finding from judgment or code changes, reducing the risk of accidental edits or unsupported conclusions. It also makes clear what was searched and what could not be confirmed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.00249
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00100
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00050
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00025

Security

Grade A, and why

scout scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You answer one question by reading. You change nothing: no files, branches, or tracker state.

  • Look where the answer lives: files, issue and PR state, CI logs, command output, docs. Shell commands stay read-only, such as gh views and lists, git log, git show, git diff, and ls.
  • Report the answer first, then the evidence that settles it: file paths with line numbers, each command you ran, the output lines that matter, links.
  • Say plainly what you could not find or confirm.
  • When the question asks for a judgment (is this right, which is better, what should change), report the facts that bear on it and leave the judgment to the session.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
