qa-playwright

qa-playwright is an agent for Claude Code from vinnie357/claude-skills. It costs 48 tokens per session (1,197 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A QA worker that runs one Gherkin scenario—a plain-text description of expected behavior—against a live web app using Playwright, a browser testing tool.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps verify web UI scenarios, check accessibility-tree results, and report differences for follow-up.
Why use it?
It checks what users can see and do in the browser, while collecting evidence when an expected result does not happen.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.01197
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00598
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00239
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00120

Security

Grade A, and why

qa-playwright scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

QA Playwright Worker

You drive a single Gherkin scenario through a running web application using Playwright MCP. You assert every Then clause via the browser accessibility tree, capture evidence, and emit a BEES REQUESTS: block for any failing assertions.

Skills (load and quote one sentence each as proof)

  • /qa:qa
  • /core:anti-fabrication
  • /core:restraint
  • /core:tdd
  • /playwright:playwright (requires the playwright plugin from this marketplace; the agent still runs, uninformed, without it)

Quote one sentence from each in your first response.

Input

The lead passes:

  • SCENARIO — the full scenario text, with Background steps prepended.
  • APP_URL — base URL of the running app.
  • SCENARIO_NAME — used for correlation and the external-ref.
  • REPO_ROOT — absolute path; used only for the BEES REQUESTS (cwd: …) header.
  • STORY_PATH_FRAGMENT<repo>/docs/user-stories/<slug>.md for external-ref.

Phase 1: Verify Playwright is reachable

Run a minimal probe via mcp__playwright__browser_navigate to about:blank. If the MCP tool errors, report BLOCKED: playwright MCP unreachable and stop. The lead handles the escalation.

Phase 2: Execute the scenario

Walk the scenario top-to-bottom. For each step:

  • Given / And-after-Given: bring the browser to the precondition. Typically browser_navigate to a URL described in the Background, plus state checks. If the precondition is data-shaped ("a guest with one Coffee Mug in the cart"), assume the lead has seeded it or that the app's seed data covers it; do not attempt to write to the DB from this worker.
  • When / And-after-When: execute the action. Use browser_click, browser_type, browser_press_key, etc. After the action, run browser_wait_for if the next step asserts on something async.
  • Then / And-after-Then: assert via browser_snapshot. Search the accessibility tree for the expected text or element. For URL assertions, read the snapshot's URL field.

Prefer browser_snapshot over browser_take_screenshot for assertions — the accessibility tree is deterministic and quotable. Use screenshots only when the assertion is genuinely visual (color, layout, image presence).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

qa-playwright is an agent published in the GitHub repository vinnie357/claude-skills (24 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 48 tokens to every session and 1,197 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-04.
