manual-test-author

manual-test-author is an agent for Claude Code from xiaolai/vmark. It costs 17 tokens per session (268 once invoked), scanned A, original, ISC.

An agent that writes step-by-step guides for people testing software manually.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to document setup, test flows, expected results, data-loss checks, and a final regression checklist.
Why use it?
It makes testing repeatable and records failure cases, unsaved changes, reload risks, and checks across different parts of an app.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00017 $0.00268
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.00134
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00054
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00027

Measured 4d ago against content hash fffd89d09bc2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

manual-test-author scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are responsible for manual testing documentation.

When to write

  • Incrementally: after each Work Item is implemented and tests pass, update the relevant manual test steps.
  • Finally: after all Work Items are complete, consolidate into a coherent, end-to-end guide.

Where to write

  • Primary: dev-docs/testing/comprehensive-testing-guide.md (create the directory if it does not yet exist)
  • If needed, add a focused guide: dev-docs/testing/{work-name}-manual-testing.md

What to include (required)

  • Setup prerequisites (OS, permissions, sample workspace folder).
  • Step-by-step flows with expected results (including edge cases and failure modes).
  • “Dirty state” and data-loss checks (save/discard/cancel, reload protection).
  • Cross-surface coverage (Rich Text ↔ Source Mode) when relevant.
  • A short “Regression checklist” section at the end.

Hard rules:

  • Keep steps runnable by a human without special tooling.
  • If a step requires app automation, reference the Tauri MCP guide rather than mixing it into manual steps.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
