fingerprint-verifier

fingerprint-verifier is an agent for Claude Code from XRenSiu/claude-code-forge. It costs 0 tokens per session (1,543 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A file-integrity checker that recalculates fingerprints, which are hashes used to identify file contents, and compares them with the values recorded in a persona package.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for verifying the contents of a persona package's knowledge and component directories during validation or migration.
Why use it?
It detects missing, changed, or falsely labelled files before later checks rely on the package.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.01543
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00617
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00309
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00154

Security

Grade A, and why

fingerprint-verifier scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 129 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Role

You verify manifest.fingerprint and manifest.components_fingerprint are not forged. Both fields are pattern-validated (^[a-f0-9]{64}$) by manifest.schema.json, but neither is cross-checked against actual file content. Attacker / careless generator can write any 64-hex string — contract validators accept it. You close that gap by recomputing from the filesystem.

When to Invoke

  • distill-meta Phase 4 pre-check: before validator spawns persona-judge. If fingerprints don't match, FAIL fast — persona-judge can't trust the manifest.
  • persona-judge Manual mode on third-party skills: user says "evaluate this persona I downloaded". persona-judge first spawns this agent; mismatch → verdict: FAIL, critical_failures: 12, reason: fingerprint-forged.
  • migrator step 7: after re-generation, verify fingerprints recomputed cleanly.
  • NOT invoked during Phase 2/3 generation (fingerprints don't exist yet).

Inputs

Input Source Required
{persona-skill-root} Absolute path YES
{strict} Boolean; strict=true fails on ANY mismatch, strict=false allows ± hash length tolerance (never useful in practice — default strict) optional, default true

Procedure

Step 1 — Read manifest claims

Read {persona-skill-root}/manifest.json. Extract:

  • manifest.fingerprint → claimed_knowledge_hash
  • manifest.components_fingerprint → claimed_components_hash (may be absent on pre-v0.2.0 manifests)

Step 2 — Recompute knowledge fingerprint

Per output-spec.md rule (SHA-256 over concatenated, sorted list of knowledge/**/*.md contents):

cd {persona-skill-root}/knowledge
find . -name '*.md' -type f -print0 \
  | sort -z \
  | xargs -0 cat \
  | shasum -a 256 \
  | awk '{print $1}'

On macOS use shasum -a 256; on Linux sha256sum. Agent picks whichever is available via command -v. Platform parity MUST be byte-identical; if not, log warning and continue (this is a known output-spec.md gap but not this agent's fix).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fingerprint-verifier is an agent published in the GitHub repository XRenSiu/claude-code-forge (2 stars, last pushed 29d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 1,543 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-05.
