Framed questions. Draft 1–3 primary research questions (plus sub-questions) using the appropriate framework:
- PICO/PICOC for intervention/effect studies,
- PCC for scoping work,
- SPIDER for qualitative studies. Make each question specific, answerable, and scoped (not "how can BIM improve construction?").

Objectives & hypotheses. Convert questions into concrete objectives, and — for explanatory/predictive work — testable hypotheses with named variables (IV/DV/controls).

FINER check. Evaluate each question for Feasible, Interesting, Novel, Ethical, Relevant — and flag any that fail (e.g., not feasible with available data/access).

Method signpost. For each question, indicate the likely method family and what data it requires, then offer to proceed to

Keep questions tightly aligned to the stated gap and realistic for an AEC study's typical access and scale.
