synthesize

synthesize is a command for Claude Code from Abhinavbwj/AEC-Scholar. It costs 15 tokens per session (359 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A method for combining findings from several research papers into shared themes, disagreements, evidence strength, gaps, and future research questions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Useful for reviewing a supplied collection of papers, comparing sources in a synthesis table, identifying limitations and contradictions, and creating a prioritized research agenda.
Why use it?
It produces an overall understanding of a body of research instead of a separate summary of every paper.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00015 $0.00359
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00179
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

synthesize scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Synthesize the body of literature the user provides into an analytic narrative (NOT a paper-by-paper list).

Input: $ARGUMENTS (read provided files/folders of notes if paths are given).

Use the systematic-review synthesis guidance and the literature-reviewer agent; ground themes in aec-domains.

Produce:

  1. Corpus overview — count, time span, venues, geographic spread, and method distribution of the set.

  2. Thematic synthesis — derive 3–6 analytic themes (not topic labels). For each theme: what the collective evidence says, which sources support it, points of agreement, tension/contradiction, and the strength of the evidence (well-supported vs thin/single-study).

  3. Cross-cutting observations — dominant methods and their limitations, recurring assumptions, and maturity of the area (flag hype vs validated results).

  4. Gaps & agenda — synthesize what is missing into a prioritized research agenda (link to /aec-scholar:research-gap).

  5. Synthesis matrix — a table: Theme × Source (✓ / key finding) so the mapping is transparent and auditable.

Attribute every claim to the source(s) that support it. Do not generalize beyond what the provided set shows, and note where a broader search is needed. Never attribute a finding to a paper that doesn't contain it.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

synthesize is a command published in the GitHub repository Abhinavbwj/AEC-Scholar (18 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 15 tokens to every session and 359 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
