odoo-upgrade

odoo-upgrade is a command for Claude Code from ahmed-lakosha/odoo-plugins. It costs 13 tokens per session (432 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command that upgrades an Odoo module, an add-on for the Odoo business software platform, to a chosen version. It checks the module, reports compatibility problems, applies listed code changes, creates a backup, and validates the result.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect Python, XML, JavaScript, and SCSS files, update version and compatibility patterns, back up the module, and check modified files for syntax errors.
Why use it?
It removes much of the manual work involved in updating an older Odoo module and helps identify problems before changes are made.

Runs only inside its plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else. Install the plugin, not this.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00013 $0.00432
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00216
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00086
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

odoo-upgrade scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Perform a complete Odoo module upgrade for the path and target version specified in: $ARGUMENTS

Follow this workflow:

  1. Analyze: Read the module's __manifest__.py to determine the current version. Scan all Python, XML, JavaScript, and SCSS files to identify compatibility issues.

  2. Report Issues: Present a summary of all issues found, grouped by severity (CRITICAL, HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW). Ask the user to confirm before proceeding with fixes.

  3. Backup: Before making any changes, create a backup of the module directory.

  4. Apply Transforms (in order):

    • Update manifest version string and add missing required fields
    • XML: tree->list, search group removal, kanban-box->card, numbercall removal, active_id->id, XPath //tree->//list, attrs->inline
    • Python: openerp->odoo imports, slug/url_for wrappers, type='json'->type='jsonrpc', view_mode tree->list
    • JavaScript: RPC service replacement with _jsonRpc helper, OWL lifecycle hook renames, @odoo-module annotation
    • SCSS: variable renames for Odoo theme conventions
  5. Validate: After all transforms, validate syntax of all modified files (Python AST, XML parsing, JS bracket balance).

  6. Report: Generate a summary of all changes made, files modified, and any remaining issues that need manual attention.

Use the odoo-upgrade skill for transformation patterns and version-specific knowledge. You can also run the upgrade scripts directly:

# Read-only scan
python "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/odoo-upgrade/scripts/cli.py" precheck <path> --target <version>

# Full upgrade pipeline
python "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/odoo-upgrade/scripts/cli.py" upgrade <path> --target <version>

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
