cover-letter

cover-letter is a command for Claude Code from Amey-Thakur/AI-SKILLS. It costs 18 tokens per session (313 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command that drafts a job cover letter based on a role, your experience, and your reasons for applying. It keeps the letter specific and avoids common phrases and invented claims.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to write a short cover letter that connects your actual experience to a role's main requirements and explains why you want that company.
Why use it?
It removes the need to turn a résumé and job description into a focused letter from scratch. It also helps avoid vague statements that are difficult to support.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00018 $0.00313
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.00156
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00063
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00031

Security

Grade A, and why

cover-letter scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You were invoked as a slash command. The user's input:

$ARGUMENTS

Use that input to fill this prompt's variables (take the main content, topic, or task from it; ask only if a required value is missing and not supplied), then follow the prompt exactly.

Draft a cover letter for this role: {role}

My background: {background}

Why this role/company: {motivation}

Structure (keep it under one page, ~250-350 words):

  • Opening: who you are and the specific role, with a hook that is concrete (a relevant result or a genuine connection to the company), not "I am writing to express my interest".
  • Body (1-2 paragraphs): match your actual experience to their top 2-3 requirements, with specific evidence and numbers where you have them. Show, do not claim ("cut deploy time 60%", not "I am detail-oriented").
  • Close: why this company specifically (if genuine), and a confident, low-pressure call to talk.

Rules: specific over generic; every sentence earns its place. No cliches (team player, passionate, hit the ground running, wear many hats), no flattery, no restating the resume. Honest: do not invent experience. Match the company's tone (startup vs enterprise). Output the letter ready to send.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
